I AM
An actor trainer, arts educator, actress, singer, dancer, director, and choreographer. I recently obtained my MFA in Acting from The Guildford School of Acting in Guildford, England. I also have my BFA in Musical Theatre from Elon University in North Carolina, USA. As a teacher I guide and enable the actor to discover their authentic self through collaborative practices, improvisational work, and movement exploration. I introduce the study and encourage the actor to find a sense of ease within their working body. Allowing them to connect their mind, body, and spirit. At the core of my teaching, I use the Meisner Method and Laban movement, but am not limited by those methodologies. In addition I bring a wide scope of methods: Chekhov, Stanislavski, and Viewpoints to my actor training, giving them these tools for their personal practice. It is imperative to create an adaptable space of learning, implementing truthful moments, sitting in those moments, while listening and responding to one another; then reflecting on these to find that connection within. Honesty, kindness, generosity, integrity, ease, and reflection will be at the heart of this creative space. In doing this I hope to achieve a safe place: stimulating growth, enabling freedom and bravery through their acting choices. I am a dynamic teacher. Bringing a high energy to the classroom (virtual or in studio), an American spirit, and steady handed guidance. To me it's about the work. Bringing awareness of self and honing skill through crafted and detailed work. I am passionate about bringing the arts to ALL. Especially those under served and marginalized. My work in the past and hope in the future is to bring awareness to inclusivity in the arts. Bridging the gap between able bodied students and those with physical or developmental challenges. I also have a pulse on the need to bring the arts into low-socioeconomic schools, giving access and enabling creativity to close the achievement gap in the arts.
